Deadline alerts
Stay ahead of federal grant deadlines
Reminders at 30, 14, 7 and 1 days for the grants you track, plus daily alerts when new opportunities match the filters you set.

Why deadlines slip
Federal applications take longer than most teams expect. Registrations such as SAM.gov can take weeks to complete or renew, letters of support depend on other people's schedules, and budgets often need sign-off. A deadline that looked far away can arrive while the work is still half done. A missed deadline usually means waiting for the next funding cycle.
Deadline reminders
When you save an opportunity or start an application from it, GovGrantsUSA starts tracking its close date. You get one reminder at each of these points:
- 30 days out, enough time to confirm registrations and request letters of support.
- 14 days out, a good point to finish drafts and start internal review.
- 7 days out, time to finalize the budget, forms and attachments.
- 1 day out, a final check before the portal closes.
Each reminder is sent once. If the daily check misses a day, the next run catches up, and you never get the same reminder twice. If you save an opportunity that closes in 10 days, you get the 7 day and 1 day reminders, not a late notice about 30 days.
Reminders appear in your dashboard notifications and arrive by email. You can turn deadline emails off in your notification settings at any time.
Grant alerts for new opportunities
Grant alerts are saved searches that run for you. Set up an alert with any combination of:
- Agencies you want to follow
- Keywords that should appear in the title or synopsis
- Funding categories
- A minimum and maximum award size
Every morning the platform checks newly synced opportunities against each active alert. When something new matches, you get a notice with the number of new grants and the first one found. Each alert remembers which grants it has already sent, so you only hear about each grant once per alert.
How alerts work with matching
Matching looks at your whole organization profile and scores every open opportunity. Alerts are narrower: they follow the exact filters you set, which is useful for tracking a specific agency or topic even when it falls outside your usual profile. Many teams use both, with matching for discovery and alerts for programs they already know.
Plan details
Deadline reminders and grant alerts are part of the paid plans. Starter includes up to 3 grant alerts, and Growth includes unlimited alerts. The current details are on the pricing page.
Agencies sometimes change or extend dates. Treat reminders as a backstop and always confirm deadlines in the official notice.
